Este tío es un fiera, es capaz de alinear el cambio con una cinta de cassette!!??

Okay, I had someone ask, so here's the cassette tape shifter alignment trick. This was originally posted by Todd from Air & Water VW Tuning. Some will say to use the skinny side of the cassette. I tried it, but it seemed exactly the same as before (hard to get in 1st). I used the fat side, per below, and it worked perfectly.

You could try to align your shift linkages, yet when they are "out" it's first gear that is hard to engage. It usually disappears in the detent between where 1st should be and reverse, and slightly pushing down on the stick to ride the lockout and then pushing forward will engage it. Or you'll notice that reverse is where 1st should be and you've lost your lockout. To align: grab a cassette tape (preferably the Go-Gos or some other band you outgrew, cause this will become a tool for your box. Mine is the Pet Shop Boys), position the stick shift so that the capstan part of the tape (the wider part with the tape visible) sits between the rod's white plastic "horn" and the white plastic panel on the left of the tunnel opening. Position the stick centered in the fore and aft direction. Wedge a bunch of rags on the passenger side of the stick, so that the tape cassette is firmly captured against the white panel by the "horn". Now, under the car you will see a round clamp on the end of the main shift rod, fastened by an 8mm bolt (13mm head) and nut. Loosen the clamp fully, go back to the interior and jiggle the stick around so that the proper relationship of the clamp to rod is attained, and then make sure the stick is back to where you positioned it. Go back and retighten clamp. You should be able to access each gear properly now. If not, try again, you'll get the hang of it.
